With Musket Ridge, Diamondback and the resort courses at Disney World to his credit, we are proud that the late architect Joe Lee brought his considerable design skills to Legends Golf and Country Club.
Joe Lee began his career in the 1960s working for Dick Wilson, one of the premier names in golf course architecture going back to the 1930s. Wilson’s style, typified by curving bunkers and large, elevated greens had its impact on Lee and can be seen in many of Lee’s courses. While working for Wilson, Lee was involved in the design of Bay Hill and Doral.
Generally, Lee’s trademark design elements are undulating greens, strategically located, yet visible hazards and unique bunkers. His courses have been called “American classics,” meaning that everything lies in front of the golfer; there are no tricks and every hole has basically one route. Joe Lee’s philosophy always was that "a day of golf should be enjoyable and not be a chore."
